The ChatGPT AI bot’s capabilities now include shopping.

The popular ChatGPT bot is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) into a market that has traditionally been dominated by media websites and tech rivals like Amazon and Google by extending its capabilities to include shopping.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by online shopping? Maybe a robot can help.

The update, according to the statement, would make it simpler for users to find direct links to purchase personalized product recommendations and view prices and reviews.

The parent company, OpenAI, launched its search tool last year and declared that its selections would be “chosen independently and are not ads,” which ignited the AI craze in 2022 with its technological advancements. With more than a billion web searches in the past week, it claimed to be one of its most well-liked and rapidly expanding features.

Analysts estimate that Google still dominates the search market, accounting for about 89% of all traffic worldwide. In the past few months, however, its market share has been gradually declining.

With the addition of shopping to its search, OpenAI is now in direct competition with Google and other product review websites, including the New York Times and other publishers.

Last year, Amazon debuted its own generative AI shopping assistant, and Perplexity, a competitor in the AI space, also has a shopping tool.

According to OpenAI, the version aims to make it “faster to find, compare, and buy products.” It stated that all users would have access to the feature, but the rollout would take a few days to finish.

As part of a larger update to its search product, the change was one of several that were revealed on Monday.

Additionally, OpenAI introduced a feature that would enable users to text ChatGPT for real-time sports scores, and the system would reply with numerous citations.
