In order to support the GOP candidates in the two heavily Republican seats up for grabs in next week’s special House elections, America PAC is spending money on “texting services.”
According to a new campaign finance report, a super PAC connected to billionaire Elon Musk has begun spending in two Florida House seats that lean heavily Republican in advance of the special elections next week.
According to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday night, which was first reported by The New York Times, America PAC, which has not yet filed a financial disclosure form this year but was nearly fully funded by Musk last year, is spending $20,000 on “texting services” to support Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis in the 1st Congressional District and state Sen. Randy Fine in the 6th District.
In comparison to the millions of dollars previously spent on special elections, America PAC has spent very little. However, given Musk’s status as a key White House adviser and his growing political activity, it is possible that he is keeping an eye on the midterms. America PAC has also spent millions of dollars on the Wisconsin state Supreme Court campaign, which is taking place next week.
Florida’s special elections on Tuesday will be held in heavily Republican territory. President Donald Trump won the 1st District by 37 points in November and the 6th District by 30 points, according to NBC News Decision Desk election results calculations.
However, House Republican leaders have raised concerns about the 6th District race to replace former GOP Rep. Mike Waltz, who resigned in January to become Trump’s national security adviser. Fine recently filed a disappointing fundraising report, trailing his Democratic opponent, Josh Weil, a public school teacher.
Patronis was also outraised by his Democratic opponent in the 1st District, gun control activist Gay Valimont, albeit not as dramatically. The winner of the 1st District race will succeed Republican former Representative Matt Gaetz.
Trump has endorsed Patronis and Fine, and he has praised both candidates in recent Truth Social posts.
