Elon Musk’s xAI moves court against Apple and OpenAI over Competition

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who often remains in the news, is in the news once again. This time for suing Apple and OpenAI for not following ethical business practices. Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has approached the top court of the United States of America, alleging that both Apple and OpenAI have secretly collaborated. The aim of this collaboration is to reduce the competition in the AI market and prevent other major AI companies, such as xAI, from penetrating the US AI market.

This is the very first time a US AI company is in the news for suing another AI company for collaboration. As per credible reports, Musk’s company has sought a billion dollars in the form of compensation. If found true, Apple and OpenAI might have to pay the amount for breaching the federal laws that govern the US AI industry at present. Elon Musk’s xAI has made serious allegations against Apple and OpenAI, stating that both firms are working in a manner that would result in both firms achieving a monopoly in the US AI market.

OpenAI was very quick to dismiss such allegations, stating that these are very old tactics of Elon Musk that aim to harass other AI service providers in the USA. However, another popular AI service provider in the USA is yet to make any comments on the allegations made by Elon Musk.

This news is quickly catching the attention of the masses because OpenAI’s ChatGPT has taken the AI market by complete storm since its inception in the latter parts of 2022. More and more people are using AI for work; however, its usage is not limited to professional settings. AI has made an equal impact on the lives of students and people in every other sphere of life. ChatGPT has been the go-to AI assistant in the USA because of its user-friendly interface and prompt response. This has prompted Apple to bring ChatGPT into its own system, a move which Musk thinks is unfair.

Apple and OpenAI difference view from elon musk

Earlier this year, Musk announced that he would be buying X, popularly known as Twitter. Musk later revealed that the main purpose of buying X was to improve how a chatbot is trained. Now chatbots are also being used in cars, which only shows how we have started to see AI in everyday life. No matter whether it is smartphones or cars, AI is now extensively being used everywhere.

Legal experts have reached a consensus that this case might be the turning point of AI in the USA. If courts take the side of Musk, it can completely change the way AI firms in the USA collaborate and develop AI assistants. This fight has quickly made it to the latest AI news stories, and the outcome will definitely shape the way AI companies in the USA govern themselves.
