Windows 11 Hits 1 Billion Users in 4 Years, Microsoft’s Fastest-Growing OS Ever
As we all know, Windows 10 took 1,706 days to reach 1 billion users. But Windows 11 achieved this milestone in even less time, in just 1,576 days. This is a massive achievement for Microsoft.
Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 is now being used on more than 1 billion devices worldwide. This is not a small achievement, but a very proud moment for Microsoft, because this target was achieved faster than Windows 10. When Windows 10 launched, Microsoft’s goal was to reach 1 billion users as soon as possible, but it did not meet that timeline; it eventually did, though.
Windows 11 achieved its milestone in just 1,576 days, while Windows 10 took 1,706 days. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced this during the quarterly earnings call:
“Windows has achieved a historic milestone — 1 billion Windows 11 users.”
Windows 11 is about to complete 5 years in the market, which is considered a long time in the tech world. There has been a lot of controversy around it. The biggest problem has been the high system requirements, which have prevented millions of Windows 10 users from upgrading to Windows 11 for free.
Some users have also lost trust due to system stability issues and a slight drop in overall quality. Seeing all this, Microsoft has repeatedly promised that Windows 11 will remain a long-term platform and stay reliable for developers, gamers, and productivity users.
It has become the world’s most popular “hated” version of Windows, because Windows 11 is running on 1 billion devices. Before this, some Windows versions were disliked by users; Windows 8 and Windows Vista were among them, and neither ever reached 1 billion users.
The negativity against Windows 11 may be primarily limited to the tech community. Regular users who use Windows only as a work tool find Windows 11 to be a simple, smooth platform.
But this does not mean that Microsoft should ignore the problems and criticisms of Windows 11.
Now that Windows 11 has crossed 1 billion users, it is even more important for Microsoft to ensure that those who are using it now continue to use it in the future.
